Mission

The Elm Creek Elementary Counseling Program’s mission is to provide an inclusive and comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the social, emotional, academic, and career needs of every student.

Vision

The Elm Creek Elementary Counseling Program’s vision is that every Elm Creek Elementary student will develop the academic, social, and emotional skills necessary to become responsible, caring, and successful individuals who contribute positively to society.

Program Definition

The Elm Creek Elementary Counseling Program aligns with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Program. The purpose of the school counseling program at Elm Creek Elementary is to provide an inclusive and comprehensive school counseling program and to ensure equity and access for all stakeholders. The 4 content areas covered by the school counselor are: intrapersonal, interpersonal effectiveness, post-secondary and career readiness, personal health and safety. A yearly calendar of events, activities and guidance lessons are planned, implemented and evaluated based on the campus needs and student outcomes.

Rationale

The Elm Creek Counseling Department is committed to working with teachers, administrators, families, students, and community members to ensure equity and access for all students through tailored- lessons for individual, small groups, or whole groups that foster compassionate, lifelong learners and productive citizens. In a supportive, challenging and positive environment, our students will develop the essential life skills such as problem solving, decision making, and emotional regulation that will help students meet their personal and campus goals. We believe in data driven practices to guide our efforts, ensuring that all students succeed and understand the value of academic habits in achieving career success. We strive to promote respect for self and others, empowering students to not only learn but thrive as responsible, resilient individuals.
