About Us

Our ECE STEM Clubs: Robotics, Solar Cars, and WeDo’s raised all the funds they needed to go on their end of the year STEM field trip to NASA in Houston, Texas! They were able to experience a hands-on activity in the STEM classroom experience and build a rocket! They saw astronauts, rockets, a space shuttle, and took the Tram tour while visiting the Johnson Space Center. Students had an amazing time learning about space, the moon, and our entire solar system! What an incredible opportunity for them to experience at the elementary level!🚀🧑‍🚀🚀🧑‍🚀🚀

Ms. De La Cruz, librarian at McNair, reserved an Alamo History Trunk for her campus and invited some of our students to visit and explore the trunk contents as well. Fourth graders study Texas history, so this activity was an excellent supplement to what they learned this year. Students enjoyed a hands-on opportunity to discover a bit more about what life was life in the 1800s. Thank you for inviting us, Ms. De La Cruz!

The Elm Creek 2025 Christmas Show brought smiles and so much joy! Fine Arts teacher, Mrs. Andrea Rodriguez, led third, fourth, and fifth grade singers in festive holiday tunes. Her ECGlee group made its debut performance and sang with true heart! 🎵🎄🎤

Elm Creek Cheer and Folklorico groups delighted the audience as well! Mrs. Vicky Garza, Ms. Vanessa Rivas, and Mrs. Mary Niño do great work preparing students in these groups. 📣🌺

🎓Fifth graders are thinking toward graduation and beyond! Recently they took a trip with Ms. Granger and Mrs. Fuller to tour the University of Incarnate Word campus. An education at UIW just might be in their future!

Fourth graders set off on a trip to the Magik Theater where they viewed a performance of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” So often we read the book or see the holiday special on TV, but it’s not often that we get to enjoy it in the format of a play. What a treat! Lunch and time to play at Hemisfair Park rounded out the day for our Explorers.

Second grade teacher, Ms. Trujillo, is part of an opportunity called the Leaders Readers Fellowship. As part of the program, she receives books for her students and commits to doing booked-based activities and service projects.

Ms. Trujillo’s students joined Mrs. Saenz’s fifth graders and Ms. Salazar’s first graders for some Reading Buddies time on Friday- always a favorite activity to build literacy and school community!

This past month, she invited our campus to participate in a 9/11 Service Project to honor and recognize not only the heroes of that day but also the everyday heroes within our own community. This was a meaningful way for our students to connect with history, show gratitude, and build civic responsibility. Classes read books about community heroes and kindnesses shown in the aftermath of the September 11th tragedy. A collection of snacks and cards was donated and delivered to the Bexar Co. ESD5 Fire & Rescue, Station 119 on Kinney Road. As an added bonus, students who participated in the delivery enjoyed a tour of the fire truck and conversation with the firefighters!

Exciting news, Elm Creek! Our secretary, Ms. Leach, has earned recognition as an SWISD Employee of the Month! We're so proud of her...but not surprised! If you know Ms. Leach, you know she always has a smile on her face and so naturally cares about everyone who walks through our doors. She makes sure our campus runs as smoothly as it can, and even in those very busy moments, she still makes sure our needs are met and we feel cared for. If you see her, please pass on a CONGRATULATIONS!

Our Student Council is off to a great start! This week, members spent time getting to know each other and learning a bit more about the organization.

Sponsored by Mrs. Luna, Mrs. Verstuyft, and Mrs. Saenz, Student Council is open to students in grade 3-5 who have been voted to represent their classes. This service-based learning program invites members to participate and lead in a variety of service projects throughout the year. Students agree to:

*Attend meetings every other Wednesday from 4:00-4:45.
*Maintain passing grades in all subjects.
*Maintain a courteous attitude.
*Be a good role model (no office referrals).
*Participate in school and community service projects.
Be on the lookout for their positive influence!

Grandparent’s Day was busy, full, and filled with much love and many smiles! We appreciate the many grandparents who came to spend some special time with their grandchildren…YOU MATTER!
