About Us

As a way to finish out the year, third graders read the book, The Lemonade War, and completed a project based on the book. Students examined the needs of our school and set out to raise money to purchase soccer goals for the campus. Through much advertising and creative selling, students sold lemonade and reached their sales goal! Thank you to everyone who supported our young entrepreneurs!

May 8th was a big day for our future PreK Explorers as they were welcomed to the ECE family at PreK Signing Day!

ECE was visited by author Claudia Villarreal! Students and staff were treated to her heartfelt and dynamic presentation describing both the work of an author and the importance of fighting against bullying. The presentation was followed by a book signing and opportunity to purchase Ms. Villarreal’s book, The Bully Who Learned to Love, and its memorabilia. Sharing space with authors is inspirational and leaves listeners with a new lens through which to experience reading and writing. Elm Creek thanks Ms. Villarreal for spending the day with us!💙🧡

Monday, February 12th, was a big day in Mrs. Stuart’s first grade class! Students have been been working to publish autobiographies, and Monday was the big reveal - complete with many guests and some sweet treats!

Elm Creek would like to welcome our interim Assistant Principal, Mrs. Debbie Jones! Mrs. Jones has many years of experience working within SWISD, and we’re happy to add her to our Explorer family! Be sure to give her a warm HELLO when you see her!!!!

Last week ECE staff celebrated our Assistant Principal, Ms. White! This special member of our school family is about to head into retirement, and while we will miss her dearly, we rejoice with her as she moves into the next phase of her life. We love you, Ms. White! And remember…once an Elm Creeker, always an Elm Creeker!

Our new Explorer, Officer Perez, has made her home at ECE this past month. She’s been a hit and is fitting in beautifully!

Thank to our Southwest ISD Education Foundation for awarding two of our teachers grants to fund projects and experiences for their students! Way to go, Mrs. Gonzales and Mrs. Sollohub!

December 19th was an exciting day for our 2nd-5th grade Explorers who had Perfect Attendance from the beginning of the year through December 13th! We took a trip to Casa Blanca and celebrated with bowling, arcade games, pizza, popcorn, and the movie: Trolls Band Together!!! A separate trip will be planned after break for our PreK-1st grade students. We know it can be hard to make it to school each day. Thank you for making attendance a priority!

Lots of excitement last week as many of our Explorers participated in the Elm Creek Science Fair! A huge thank you goes to parents for supporting their children’s efforts as well the volunteers who undertook the tough task of judging the projects. Next up: District Science Fair on December 20th for our first and second place winners! Way to go! (Open this note to see pictures of the winners in each grade level.)
